A teenager fell 150ft down a steep embankment in a sledging accident and escaped with just a broken leg.
The 16-year-old was playing in the snow on Blackford Hill, in Edinburgh, when his sledge ran out of control.
A spokeswoman for Lothian & Borders Fire and Rescue said crews were unable to access the hill in their fire engines and had to attend to the incident on foot.
The teenager was brought down using line rescue equipment at about 2.20pm and taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with a broken left leg.
Mountain rescue crews were also en-route to an incident on Glencoe, in the Highlands, at about 2pm on Saturday.
