Santa brings gifts to the animals

Dec 25 2012

Santa has made a special stop to deliver presents to inquisitive animals at a safari park.

The giraffes, llamas, lemurs and meerkats of Blair Drummond Safari Park were treated to festive gifts of their favourite snacks.

Animal keeper Alan Leach donned the red and white suit to tour the park near Stirling and make sure everyone received their presents.

The meerkats were particularly excited as they climbed all over the keeper to get into the box of mealworms he had brought for them.

The giraffes, Harriet, Bella, Ruby and Kelly, were a bit more relaxed and took their time before enjoying the green vegetables and carrots that had been prepared for them.

Bella the sea lion was in the Christmas spirit and was so happy with her snacks that she gave her keeper Sam Clarke a kiss under the mistletoe.

The park is closed over winter but staff continue to work every day to look after the variety of animals on the land. It reopens in March.
