Russell to unveil new schools list

The Education Secretary will announce the next 30 schools to be built as part of a Government construction programme. Michael Russell will reveal the list during a visit to Newbattle Community High School in Midlothian. The announcement comes a week after Finance Secretary John Swinney pledged an extra 12 schools will be built, taking the total from 55 to 67. About £80 million was brought forward following savings made by the Scottish Futures Trust. Mr Swinney said the expanded Schools for the Future programme will help boost the construction industry.
