A man has been detained in connection with the serious sexual assault of a woman, police have said.
The 22-year-old woman was attacked in Bedford Avenue in the Powis area of Aberdeen on Saturday morning, sparking one of Grampian Police's largest investigations involving around 130 officers.
A 21-year-old man has been detained, a force spokesman said.
The investigation team has received dozens of calls and statements from local residents since the attack and CCTV footage from around the area has been reviewed, the spokesman added.
Detective Chief Inspector Martin Dunn said: "It is down to the positive reaction and co-operation from the public that we have been in a position to detain a male in connection with this vicious sexual assault.
"I must thank all those who have assisted us so far. I would particularly like to thank residents in the Powis area of Aberdeen. I appreciate this incident will have had a considerable impact on their daily lives."
