Sunday 29th June promises to be the ultimate girl’s day out in Edinburgh as the city is transformed into a glamorous urban spa for one day only. Retailers will join forces to offer free advice, free demonstrations and free product promotions giving the capital city a wonderful relaxed summer vibe.
The hub area will be held in a bespoke outdoor Spa on the roof of the Princes Mall between 10am and 6pm. Whether you’re badly in need of a massage or a makeover, you’re wondering what perfume is the right scent for you or you want to try out some products before going on holiday then this is your opportunity to take advantage of the city’s top beauty therapists, stylists, make-up artists and products for absolutely free!
Housed in three tranquil tipis on the grassy area at the back of the Princes Mall roof, the treatment rooms will offer a whole host of free taster sessions from top names such as the Roxburghe Hotel (Decleor products), Neal’s Yard, Jenner’s (Aveda and Clarins), Penhaligan’s, The Body Shop, Marks & Spencer and Virgin Vie with many more to be confirmed.
Shoppers are advised to arrive at the site early to have a look at the treatments available and book a slot as demand is expected to be high. The first 100 people will receive a goody bag full of product samples and incredible offers that can be used at various outlets around the city on that day.
Shops throughout the city centre will also host their very own fantastic in-store treatments with promotional offers so that once you have been pampered and preened you can purchase the products without breaking the bank.
Special stands will be set up in the St James Centre by businesses including John Lewis (offering Clinique and Lancôme makeovers and promotions), Escape Health Club and Zest Health And Beauty. Harvey Nichols will be providing complimentary makeovers on Shu Uemura, Laura Mercier and Trish McEvoy (subject to availability) and hand massages on ESPA (again subject to availability) – plus this will be the first Sunday of the store’s Summer sale giving shoppers even more reasons to visit.
There has never been a better day to meet up with your very own Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda and Carrie in Edinburgh. Why not make a lunch booking at one of the city’s top eateries, visit the Spa, get some fantastic deals on products and then finish the day off with a cocktail at the Opal Lounge or Tigerlily on George Street.
Spa In The City is being organised and funded by the Open For Business Group. The group was set up supported by tie and City of Edinburgh Council and led by the Edinburgh Chamber Of Commerce to market Edinburgh businesses and help attract visitors into the city during tram construction time.
The group has already invested in new branding and marketing for the West End Village, provided support to The Leith Festival and Leith Walk and is also planning a month long event in September called Month Of Sundays to support retailers across the city.
Councilor Jenny Dawe, Leader of the City of Edinburgh Council, said: “This is a very original idea which will encourage people to come into our city centre and experience what it has to offer.
“My thanks go to all the retailers who have wholeheartedly given their support to Spa in the City and are working with the Open for Business campaign to identify new ways of marketing the city centre while tram works are underway.”
