THREAVE Rovers manager Davie McVitie has revealed that the club are close to bringing in new faces.

He told the News that the club are working hard to bring in “one or two new faces” to strengthen the squad.

“There is definitely movement in terms of bringing players in and with the younger lads going out on loan,” he said.

“At the moment though there is nothing concrete that we can talk about.

“We’re working on trying to bring in one or two new faces.

“There will be a couple of the younger players going out on loan and going to train with other clubs, but again nothing is guaranteed.

“It is good for the club to be able to do this as well as the players.

“We have a lot of talented young players coming through from the youth ranks and it is great that other clubs want them.

“It’s a good position to be in and will hopefully benefit everyone in the long run.”

Threave had a visit last week from an official from the Scottish Football Association in order to point the club in the right direction to obtain their SFA club licence.

McVitie added: “We had the visit last week and I have had a brief word with the chairman about it.

“The SFA officials are planning on visiting most of the clubs in the south to see what’s needed for improvement and to give advice.

“They seemed impressed by what we have here at the club and hopefully we will receive good feedback on the visit.

“It will be interesting to see what is said to not only us but all the clubs across the area.

“All we can do is wait to hear about the visit, but obviously the sooner we hear the better.”

Annan Athletic will travel to Meadow Park on Saturday for Threave’s first pre-season friendly.
