CREEBRIDGE House Hotel are now in a clear second place in the James King Coach Hire sponsored Stewartry Sunday Amateur Football Association League.

Sunday’s win over Ferrytoon saw them move clear of their opponents, having previously been level on points with the Creetown side.

IT took Creebridge just two minutes to go in front when veteran Donald Hughes launched a huge throw and Kieran Jolly somehow managed to head home despite being surrounded by three defenders.

Both teams had chances but couldn’t make them count until the 20th minute when Sandy Davidson ran at the Ferry defence and was brought down by namesake Andrew.

The home side felt it was a soft award but the Creebridge Davidson wasn’t complaining as he dispatched the penalty.

Ferry almost got one back when Laven got onto the end of a Swallwell throw, but his header rattled the bar.

Both teams created chances in the second half but failed to make them count, either through poor finishing or good goalkeeping.

Ferry were disappointed with the goals they lost, but Creebridge worked hard for the win to move three points clear in second.

Tides 6 Twynholm 4

A HARD fought derby match at Kirkcudbright was filled with goals as Tides ended a 10 game run without a win.

Tides went in front after 15 minutes when a corner was cleared to young Craig Campbell and he drove the ball into the bottom corner from 22 yards.

Four minutes later they doubled their lead through Gary Simpson, but that forced Twynholm into action.

Five minutes later Nicky Kerr got one back and Daniel McMillan ensured the sides went in level at the break.

Tides went back in front after 52 minutes thanks to a Darren Lazenby looping backpost header but Twynholm responded again, former Tides man Danny Morrison scoring twice to give them the lead for the first time.

Tides plugged away and got the equaliser on 75 mins through Ian Cairnie.

No sooner had they done that than sub Jamie Gray put them back in front before getting the crucial sixth when his fierce effort hit the post and flew into the net.
